The Salt of the Nation — a young, fast-rising state in south-east Nigeria with deep culture, fertile land and warm people.

Created on 1 October 1996 with its capital at Abakaliki, Ebonyi is one of the five states of the Igbo-speaking south-east. It is fondly called the "Salt of the Nation" after the historic salt lakes of Okposi and Uburu, and is renowned today for Abakaliki rice, rich cultural festivals and rapidly modernising infrastructure.
